Helen was adopted at the age of 10 days. At the age of 23 she went in search of her biological parents. She quickly found her mother's family, only to find that her mother had died just 2 months before. Helen's birth certificate only listed her mother, Ruby Irvine. Ruby's family were able to tell her that her father was David Brash who had been a medical student at Glasgow University in 1940. However, he had married and left Glasgow many years before.

It was not until 2002, when Helen bought a computer and went on-line, that she found this website, and realised that she had found her father's family.

Married on the 5th October 1957 to William Hershaw . Were divorced 27th Febuary 1979.
